2 pins on right side...what are they used for?

I don't know, but it could be the Tx and Rx pins of a UART (terminal) port. These are commonly used for diagnostic purposes.

Another possibility is a shorting link for "safe mode". This allows the drive to power up in a special test mode. I suspect that the two pins are connected to the two test points at the middle RH edge of the first photo (to the left of "E3").

Hmmmmm...i was hoping it was used as the activity LED connection. Thxs for the info.

Easy enough to check. You won't hurt an LED by trying it.
Though your motherbd should have an HDD activity connector in the front panel header.

Thxs...Im using this HDD as a portable....i will test a LED/1K resistor. Maybe Im lucky...

The activity LED, if enabled in the firmware, is driven from pin #11 of the SATA power connector. This pin is usually grounded at the host end of the power cable, so you will need to intercept this wire to have any chance of making use of it. However, this same pin is used for staggered spin-up control, so this would be a complication that you would need to account for.
