Toshiba External hard drive not showing up in any of my computers

when i plug it in it makes the sound like its connected the light on the front blinks you can touch the hard drive and see that its moving inside it shows up in devices and printers but dose not show up in my file explorer suggestions?o.o
(have windows 8 and it use to show it by the way)
 
Solution
Connect the external hard drive and follow these steps.

Go to Windows Smart menu.
Search Devices and Printers and open it
Scroll down, There should be a unknown section displaying your external hard drive.
Right click on it and choose troubleshoot.

If its not listed
Try this solution

If its still not fixed you may have a faulty external hard drive.

Hi there nykyrian,

You need to go to Disk Management and see how is the drive recognized over there.
In case it has damaged partitions or file system, you may need to use some sort of partition/data recovery software.

In case the HDD is not recognized by Disk Management, you can try something simple as just using another USB cable and connect the drive to another USB port.
