Hello,
Hi, i have a macbook pro. i recently bought a toshiba 1TB external hard drive. after formatting it to work on a mac, the hard drive worked perfectly, however now, on inserting it into my macbook, it does not appear on my computer! it doesnt show up on the desk top and nor does it show up in the finder 🙁 i would be grateful if someone would help me out

Does the drive light up when you connect it? I would try pulling the usb cable about 1/3 of the way out of the macbook and see if you can get it to recognize it. I have about 6 of those every single one had issues with the cable being a real pita to get working. If you pull the cable out a bit from the macbook, and you may have to fiddle with the end connected to the drive hopefully you can get it working.

Yes the drive does light up when i connect it. In fact the hard drive is working normally on my brother's toshiba laptop, so i think the is a problem with my mac and not the hard drive. i did try inserting it 1/3rd way through, but unfortunately that didnt work either 🙁

This is pretty easy.
Back up if you have files on it.
Got to utilities in applications.
Go to disc utility.
Click on the HD symbol of the Toshiba HD.
Click on the RAID button.
Click on format and make it MS DOS (FAT).
Name your drive in the panel above.
Now go to erase.
Title the HD again and click erase.
It'll take 30-40 seconds and it'll be ready to copy onto and work with.

If it is not seen or recognized by mac bow do you think we can take back up? Also it is not seen in other windows laptop. Mine opens in TV, but not in a computer! Very funny situation. Can you help? My mail id is rajnishduara@gmail.com
