toshiba laptop broken screen help

connects to TV but as of lately TV screen only shows black when HDMI cord is in laptop

Hi,

I saw this trick from Youtube where they disconnected the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard then plug in the TV using HDMI which then worked. The laptop reads the TV connected via HDMI as the default screen so you can even load in BIOS and still see everything on the TV.
