Wow, it's sad to think that $1500 used to get you a mid-level pc, and that was when $1500 was worth what $2100 is now. Now $1,500 is a luxury price? No wonder my repair business has dropped off the economic radar.

your paying for the resolution ne the sceen mostly and lets be honest 2560 x 1444 on a 13.3 inch screen? good luck convincing people that you can tell a diff between that and a 1366 X 768 on that small of a screen.

You pay the the lightness of the ultrabook packed with the features. You could pay less but you might short yourself on the typical features you expect.

For example I was shopping Ultrabooks last month and found many laptops that fit my needs but was missing the Ethernet or it weight half a pound more or the SSD was only 128GB oh I can go on. These make all the difference.

First thing that came into my mind - Book of Yagami Light's 'partner'? It's always good to see move from crap 14x9 and smaller LCDs... Low resolution is crap (proud owner of both Dell 3008wfp and Nexus 10)

As if that will make any difference.

As others have stated, sure the screen resolution is great [albeit I still think 1080 should be standard by now, but am surprised to find many units with the 768 res]. Given that 1080 is not even standard for laptops, nor is 1440 standard for desktops, it will be awhile till that is standardized. Plus as another user stated, 1440 on a 13 inch screen is a bit much. It does make every everything clear sure, but it won't work as well for those with bad eye sight.

Why do they keep sticking 2560x1440 in a 13 inch screen? I will be ecstatic if the next alienware m18x r3 comes out with a 2560x1440 IPS flavored 18.4" screen so you can actually make use of the extra pixels a little more. If they can do it on a 13 inch screen with much less room to pack all those pixels in it should be even more simple to get those pixels into a larger space with more room to dedicate to each pixel. Plus that is the only way dell is going to get me to upgrade my entire m18x r1 to the r3. Didn't get the r2 just changed out the heatsinks for gpu and cpu with the beefier r2 versions and changed the gpus from crossfire 6990m to sli gtx 680m. And it's looking like the gtx 780m is just going to be a small incremental upgrade thats mayve 10% faster at most compared to the gtx 680m so I probably wont be doing any upgrading to my R1 this generation of upgrades. Now when they move down from 28nm to the next node I think its either 20nm or 16nm on the 800 series geforce it will be time for the upgrade as that will be a leap in performance like the 680 was to the 580
