Toshiba in partnership with the Japanese Tohoku University Hospital have achieved a new milestone on the road towards the quantum internet - the research team encrypted the human genome and sent it over a quantum-secure connection over 600 km of fiber.

“The research finally opens the door to long distance Quantum Key Distribution (QKD).”

Clearly this author has not done his research. Long distance QKD has been demonstrated in 2019 via satellite by China over a distance of over 1200km in a video conference between Austria and China.
As matter of fact, China has already made actual deployment of a quantum communication network between multiple cities via fiber optic in recent years as opposed to a simple demo.
Author could’ve said this demo ‘further contributes’ to the advancement to the realization of quantum internet rather than making it sound so ‘ground-breaking’ and enabling while discrediting research work done by others.
