Toshiba RD100KD TV recorder HDD not working.

RD100KB HDD replacement. The HDD menu does not appear on settings menu, hard drive does not power up. Have replaced with a new HDD and it powers up but still does not show on settings menu. Have formatted as FAT32. Does the drive need software or different file format?

See if you can format the drive using the recorder. it likely needs a linux format, a custom one, or doesn't support the size of the drive you installed.

Do you have the old drive that you can install into a pc or usb enclosure to see what the format was?

Thanks for the reply, the old drive is completely dead so cannot connect to PC to check the drive format (also all recordings are lost). The hard drive menu on the recorder is greyed out so cannot format through the recorder. I will have to try linux and maybe partition the drive so it is 320GB to match original drive.
