Toshiba satellite 665-S5173 wireless card

I have a satellite 665-S5173 with the intel centrino wireless N 1000 card. It will not load anything very fast. when I try to get online it is very slow. I have connected thru Ethernet and the computer is fine. Do I need to replace the wireless card? If so which one would be best. I have AT&T modem/ router.

I have AT&T 100 meg service and when I use the wireless in the room about 30 ft away from the router I get a ping of 35-45 and a 1 to 5 meg down. When I go into the room where the router is I get about 50 down. When I had Cox I had the same issues. The laptop is about 7 yrs old but I have a 1gig sshd in it and it is pretty good except for the location I want to use it in.
