The Toshiba detailed specs for the subject laptop list the storage as using Serial ATA, but do not specify which version. Their KB has no answer. Does anyone know which SATA version is supported? Is it SATA I, SATA II, or SATA III? I found a post elsewhere indicating the Intel chipset on the MB has SATA III ports but no confirmation on whether the HDD uses SATA III.

I'm looking to replace the HDD with an SSD to boost performance but if the machine doesn't use SATA III that boost will not be as much as I hope.

According to Crucial.com, that laptop model supports SATA 3 - 6Gb/s

I can't attest to Crucial's accuracy but that's the only site I could find that carried the SATA speed info.
Thanks - I searched around more for supporting evidence, and found that the free utility "PC Wizard" provides details about both the disk controller and installed drive. The controller is SATA III compliant, but the HDD included with this laptop is only SATA II.
