Hi,
I have a Toshiba laptop that its suddenly shutting down.

I can stay in BIOS as long as I want, and I also can run memtest86 as long as I want.

As soon as I try to format it (with a pen), the computer looses power...

Already tried:
  • removing rams and using only one of them...
  • AC adapter without battery...
  • Running HDD as external device (USB)
  • Running LIVE linux
Any ideas?

Best Regards

Test issue go bios and disable "core multi processing" under advanced and save, if doesnt solve try change "Dynamic CPU Frequency " under advanced.

This is temporary fix but you need to replace nec tokin, you can do it with soldering iron nothing else needed.

try boot from usb linux or live dvd. Issue might be solved just corrupted OS. You will probably get same issue later on when stressed again so fix below:

Disassembly if you see NEC tokin capacitor replace with these : https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-x-SMD-Ta...C-TOKIN-0E907-OE907-0E128-OE128-/232369804400

Check nec tokin model from the capacitor : 0E907 OE907 0E128 OE128 and 4x 330uf 2.5v is fine. Its usually other side of CPU on the motherboard.
