Toshiba tv with chromecast built-in

I can't get it to work. Can I just buy a chromecast dongle and use that?

Hi, Thank you for answering. I tried many times to install the necessary program from my laptop as instructed by the tv manual. It always tells me "installed" and I can't go any further. I go to "search" on my labtop to verify that and it never acknowledges that it is indeed installed. I use 8.1 OS so I suspect that might be the program. The manual refers several times to Android 4.0.3 which implies to me that in order to use the chromecast built-in I have to use a handheld device that uses Android. Thanks again.
