Toshiba Windows 8.1 Elan Touchpad not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite C55D Laptop with Elan Smart touch pad which is not working. This happened out of the blue as it was working the day before. I checked the Elan settings which shows that the touch pad is enabled. I also has Ubuntu installed alongside windows but the touch pad is not working in Ubuntu also.
But the touch pad is working in the BIOS menu.
What should i do?

Use system restore to revert back to the most recent time before that started happening.
