Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much the silver HL2 package
comes to in uk pounds - it is 59.95+"tax" which valve 'estimates' to
take the total to about $78 - around £42. Are there any other extras
to this from valve/tax (I am sure there is a commision charge etc for
using a UK card to pay in a foreign country but that varies from bank
to bank)

Thanks
Matt

That would make it a mere $70.44 - about £37. Is there any import duty
or anything?
Thanks
Matt

It is $59.95+17.5% VAT. You shouldn't be charged a commision rate on a
credit card purchase.

At this point it would be much smarter to buy a steam account on Ebay. I
know a few people who've bought the silver package for $20 there.

Say it isnt so!!??!!

I was told that it was "impossible" to resell HL2 because of Steam. Is
it really as simple as selling the account name and password?

snigger.

If I ever buy stuff online, I choose something like "Uganda" as country of
residence. Not caused me a problem yet and I've saved a bit of tax. Anyone
questions it, Uganda is usually next to UK so easy to say it was a genuine
mistake....

Actually, I haven't sussed that bit out. There is a guy I am helping move
$100 million US DOLLARS from SOUTH AFRICA with my patience and good standing
god willing. I am hoping he can nip in and pick the stuff up when he comes
over with the money....

don't you think 78 dollars is way too much for a pc game?
let me remind you "The Chronicles of Riddick" a game released the same
time as hl2 is selling for less than 20 dollars and with case, manual
and cd-rom
you will pay at first 78 dollars for a game which doesn't come with
printed manual or cd-rom/dvd-rom backup, or a case
you must add to the 78 dollars the money you will spend downloading
the game, the money you will spend wasting your precious time waiting
for the massive amount of data to finish being copied to your pc and
them you must burn a dvd for backup, so you must pay for the dvd blank
media and have a dvd recorder, and even so you will have to pray the
copy you burn is reliable and will keep save your 78 dollar game

are you so masochistic to pay an undisclosed amount of money for a game
with hidden costs, and specially giving away your own freedom?
don't you have some self respect? or are you whiling to accept being
humiliated by a company only cause you want to play a single pc game?
think about it

The feed-pipes burst below --
You can hear the hiss of the helpless ram,
You can hear the twisted runners jam."

Hey, that's not a bad idea. I'm helping a Nigerian trade official
balance his books by transferring $60m US DOLLARS to my UK bank
account. I've already sent him £50 to cover fees so he owes me favour.

walter mitty is playing dumb again. Actually he knows that it is
impossible to sell individual Steam games out of your existing Steam
account. The only option would be to create a separate Steam account
beforehand for each and every Steam game you buy. May be fine now that
there is only one new Steam game (HL2), but what if you had 10 Steam
games?

Extra hassle is also caused by not being able to rename your Steam
account (Steam ID), so you end up having separate Steam accounts with
obscure names. I think Steam IDs like "Halflife2" or "HL2" are already
taken.

Maybe they could both hook up when they come over with the money - save on
taxi fares - more money for us! Yay!
