just wondering under extream cases how many files must be repaired during a disk check ? my system has been repairing for a few hours now and so far has repaired 680,000 files. Just want to know if there is a total number it needs to hit withing about 10k ish

nope no back ups. ran a disk check this morning and everything was fine, restarted PC and suddenly nothing would work, windows recovery failed to work and now this disk check is taking forever to complete. if i can just get to desktop i can make the damn thing work again but i just cant get that far

not really. ran this morning after an error which caused explorer.exe to crash and restart without creating a crash report (which made the entire system unresponsive) after that it was working fine but i went back to sleep for a few hours and when i woke up couldnt get it to dektop, ran in safe mode with no luck and startup repair didnt do anything in the 4 hours i let it run so though another dskchk was the bes solution.

Just to make sure, if its repaired 710k files that means it has actually repaired that many files and not just the same file 710k times ? i can put the drive in another PC to get the data off it if needed but i would rather not as there is programs and stuff i would loose.

nah i can get really lucky with things like this, last drive failed multiple times (and really badly at that) then worked for another 2 years (and is still working as my D drive) just didnt thin i have 710k files on my drive :)

over 830k now 🙁 but after checking up a bit further i have read a number of cases where this has just been a generic issue and has been fixed after completion. something the number of files are as small as 72k or as high as 950k
