Hello, with new games like crysis coming out and my PC being a bit midrange I'd like to OC my E4300 but I have no clue to how I would go about doing it safely.

I'd like to go the highest I can safely on stock cooling with AS5 on the heatsink. My PC specs are in my sig.

Hope nobody minds me posting, I searched but I didn't understand what I was looking at in some of the threads.

That's not AS5 on the stock cooler. Read this o/c guide:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/240001-29-howto-overclock-quads-duals-guide

Basically, you up the FSB, keep the cpu multiplier at stock (you can't up it, it's upward-locked, unless you have an ES/X chip) or lower it to achieve a stable o/c. i.e.:

The e4300 has a 9 multiplier & 200mhz fsb x 9 = 1.8ghz.

300 x 9 = 2.7ghz

Once the pc becomes unstable, up the voltage of the overclocked component. i.e. If you upped the fsb, you would up the northbridge voltage a notch. On GB board, it's + 0.1v, etc.

Don't o/c unless you understand the risk & how.

When I put this PC together I removed the stock thermal paste and used AS5 on it.

Thats why I was asking here so I could get a little more understanding.

I'll take a look at that guide.
