Touch screen performance through thick glass?

I'd like to use a touch screen monitor behind a sheet of glass 1/4". How much performance loss can I expect or are they all adjustable? Are some better than others?
 


Hello, we supply touchscreen computers that work through glass, such as shop windows, coffee tables, service counters, if you take a look on our website www.kioscreen.com - they work through glass layers up to 10mm thick.

I'm guessing that infrared and optical imaging would have the most trouble with having a glass layer added, especially since the bezel depth to allow the IR/optical sensors around the edges would cause an air gap.
