Touching a graphics card while it's running?

Hello everyone,

I used to have an old NVIDIA GTX 285 which ran ok for today actually, until I started to feel the top of the card while it was running during games, I noticed over the course of the year my card would start to stutter when games started up and I could tell it was when I was touching it, because everytime I even tapped the card it would say NVIDIA Display Drivers have stopped working and recovered or something.

I knew it was bad and I got in the habit of doing it to feel how hot it is, but it wasn't until a professional looked at it and told me it was fine for me to touch it as long as my hands aren't wet. Well I just got a new GTX 750ti FTW recently and I have forgotten all about that, well the card has ran beautifully on most games I play and no stuttering so far, but recently I have been feeling it to see how hot it gets and ever since the game stutters right when I get in, it has increased more so that it stutters for longer periods of time or sometimes it stutters when I am randomly playing

Well today it got so bad, that when I felt it once during a game I was playing a ton of white spots showed up on the screen, the game froze and I had to shut down my computer. I turned it back on and I was greeted with a Cleaning up windows text?

Then my PC restarted and I haven't tried playing any games yet, but I am concerned I ruined this card that I spent 150 on. PLEASE HELP and please tell me if it's bad to touch the card while it's running or I happened to have my hands wet when I did it, or perhaps my GTX 285 is just too old to handle games anymore and stutters anyways.

Thanks,
Aaron
