Hi,

recently I had to replace my keyboard on my Asus UX31A, which worked out pretty good. But, since then the touchpad won't work anymore. The only thing I did to the touchpad was to take out its ribbon cable, which is leading to the main board, and put it back during reassembling.
Before, the touchpad was working perfectly. Now it doesn't even appear in the device manager.

How do I know what is the reason for that? Can I check the ribbon cable somehow?
Maybe the touchpad itself is broken. How can I check this?

I also wonder if there should be another cable to the touchpad, since the ribbon cable is the only connection leading to the touchpad. I wonder where does it get its power supply from?

I would appreciate any help.

Ribbon cables from devices on a laptop only end up having one exposed end/lead that can only go in one way unless you force the connector into the opposite direction/flipped state on that note with the only exception being the audio/USB end whereby the cable can sometimes be detached from both the motherboard and the connected PCB on the USB/Audio end.

Have you tried using the previous keyboard and seen if the issue is persistent? You might want to back up your critical content while using a backup wired mouse and see if reinstalling your OS(while wired mouse is disconnected) solves the issue. Speaking of which what OS are you on?

Lastly if the procedure went right then you shouldn't be left with any spare screws nor will you have any issues with the trackpad/keyboard though Windows 10 tends to throw a fit here and there.
