Touchpad freezes on my HP pavilion dv6500

My touch pad has stopped working on my HP Pavilion dv6500 laptop but a usb mouse works fine. Someone said I need to download latest Synaptics drivers for my laptop. Any help greatly appreciated

Either reinstall your existing drivers or as someone said download and install the latest Synaptics drivers. Check device manager to see if it is showing there and check in controlpanel/ mouse to see if the device is there and whether is says its working
