Hi. So by touchy I mean if I don't turn the headphone jack just right, there will either be no sound from the headset, or sound only comes from the right side. I know it's the computer and not the headset because I've tested the headset on another device and I've tested other headphones in this socket and it's the same deal. I have speakers plugged in the back and they're fine, it's just this front socket. I don't know if something is just loose or if something is damaged and needs repairing or replacing. I'm actually about to upgrade a few parts of my PC, I'd rather not get a new case if I don't have to, though I assume a new case and new motherboard would solve this problem...
The system is an iBUYPOWER i-series 301 that I got several years ago.
Case: ARC 647
Mobo: MSI 760GMA-P34
CPU: FX-6300
Win 8.1 64 bit. Thanks for any help.

not the same configuration as current panel (not sure that matters) but that seems kind of pricey for that part...I could get a whole new case for $30...I mean, not a great one but I've seen a few OKish options for under $40. but I just wonder is it definitely the front panel? is there a way to confirm?
