TOUGH CHALLENGE! Need help with home built (<450USD). please help guys

Hi guys.......

First let me explain my situ. I have a 8800GT that I'm not willing to ditch but everything else I need to buy(and also I have a case that I can use) and buy for less than USD 450. I'm not bias towards Intel or AMD but need the best bang for buck

The only 2 thing that I'm fixed on is the monitor. Need something atleast 22 inches (which will cost about $135, I guess) and the sounds which is $85 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121006&cm_re=36-121-_-36-121-006-_-Product]) So that leaves me $230 for the Processor, Mobo, RAM, HDD, DVD Drive, PSU.

So it would be great if u guys can suggest some good stuff for me.

I'm going to add in the cost of a monitor because they start at 150 on Newegg. I'm also going to try to use modern parts--you could upgrade this system easily later for more performance.

That's $34 over budget, 44 when you add shipping.

This was the cheapest I could put together on Newegg. It's a modern system that can take some good upgrades. You could shave a bit off by purchasing an 80GB HDD, but that's not really enough anymore. A better choice would be using the HDD and DVD drives from your old computer if they're still in working order.... or compromise on speakers and monitor a bit. There are plenty of decent monitors for $119 on Newegg @ 1440x900 and 19ish inches. This is good: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236069 but it's only on special at that price for a short time.
...or wait for someone else to do a better job finding parts, as I'm sure they will.

Edit: Wait, I lied. The CPU doesn't come with a heatsink, so factor in an additional $35 or so to purchase one. Make sure it comes with some form of thermal paste, or add $5 for some of that too.

That's a really crappy build...... and the processor doesn't have a heat sink. If you can't invest $7-$750 you'll be throwing your money away. I tried to put a decent build together for you and both times I'm near or over $300 with just a mother board, processor and ram.

Maybe a better option for the OP would be saving for a while or looking for an older system on Craigslist. You could probably find some cheap older parts and put together a low-end system easily enough. Don't expect great performance from anything in this price range, though.

Perhaps a $5 top up for an Enermax Liberty 500 sounds good ^^

OK seems that the budget is too constrained due to the stuff that I have pre selected (monitor and speakers)..... so lets say i give up on the speakers and goes for a monitor that is about $ 25 cheap... so that will add 100 to the budget... so now the trick is to find a good Processor, Mobo, RAM, HDD, PSU for $350.......

Will the stuff u selected change with that new budget?

I would never by an open box item........ sometimes they're good other times they're junk and your stuck with them. You also don't get the cables you're going to need. As far as everything else goes I'm staying out of this. You don't have enough money to put together a decent enough system. Save your money.

Unfortunately for Intel, it looks like gamers building on a budget can skip over the dual-core Pentium E6500. While it certainly wasn't trounced in comparison to the other contenders, it really doesn't offer anything special. The processor might make a worthwhile upgrade from an older LGA 775-based configuration, but for those constructing new machines, the AM2+ and AM3 platforms are much more attractive and have a brighter future.

Get an Athlon2 X3 and clock it a wee bit down the road and u set ^^

Suggest some good stuff at those prices? You can't find end low end used parts at those prices!
I would suggest eBay, you'll have a much better chance there.
While you are at it, see if you find me a 5870 for under $100, that is about as reasonable as your request.
