tower lights will not shut off

I have a gateway computer model number Dx 4860. At the top of the tower, there is a small button that one can turn on the light for the tower. Its there for looks. I cannot get it to turn off. Of course it will go off if I shut the power off, but when using the computer that light is kinda too bright. Is there an easier way to shut it off?

If the light is too bright, you can try and disassemble the front panel following this video and add some layers of white masking tape or perhaps snip one of the wires that lead up to it. Mind you, you will need to solder it back on should you like to have it illuminate your Gateway brand logo at the front of the bezel. Ofc you could go the DIY route and add a switch between one of the wires located in your chassis to the LED's powering the small white box but positioning it in your chassis for easy operation may prove to be a challenge and it may ruin the aesthetics of the chassis.
