Yes, the tp link ac1750 does support dd-wrt and open wrt, but the 5 ghz wifi-- specifically the ac radio -- does not work very well with these custom firmwares as of June 2015. I own this router and apparently the gurus on various wrt forums can't access the ac radio as there is little to no documentation on wireless ac to get the wireless radios to work at advertised speeds. I had to revert back to stock firmware, which I hate, but the wi-fi speeds are much better.
Aside from that, the interface for dd-wrt is awesome and allows a greater level of control of your router-- if you have some tech knowledge and stomach for it. If you don't care about wireless ac, get dd-wrt.
