TP-Link internet will connect but not provide internet

My cousins TP-Link model TL-WR740N is allowing me to connect but wil not give internet access. The lights on the front have the power light on, the WiFi signal looking one (the third one) on, but flickering, the circle with ring around it (second to last) also on and flickering, and the settings light (second) flashing.

Restarting the machine doesn’t work, and it seems like the admin access website is non-existent anymore.

Anyone have any ideas? It’s been off for about 10 hours now. Also, if you couldn’t tell yet, I know nothing about this sort of thing, so it’s be great if you spoke in simpler terms.

I’ve now checked the modem, and its internet light is not on either.

You probably need to call your ISP and report your connection is out. Is your phone working?

Has there been any thunder in your area about the time you noticed loss of internet; a lightening strike could have fried either the TPLink or the ADSL filter.

The ISP (if they are any good), will run a line test while you are on the phone to them; the line may go dead during the test, dont worry.
