Dear folk

Question posted in the TP-Link forum before two weeks but still no response as the link above

I have got TP-Link TL-SG2210P. PoE switch with the specifications in the link below :

Model: T1500G-10PS(TL-SG2210P)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.5 Build 20160912 Rel.32686

Permanently 3 PoE Hikvision security cameras connected to it ,,,,,but once I connected 3 or 4 other Ethernet cables for desktop computers the whole switch gets shut down ,,,,sometime working fine allof the sudden gets switched off !!!!

Can you please advise what should I do to troubleshoot the problem ?

Thanks

If the switch is actually powering off then it is likely defective hardware.

Otherwise you suspect some kind of ip conflict with the machines you are plugging in. That switch is smart and should avoid it but if somehow you bridge 2 ports together on the switch you get a loop and with things like cameras that tend to send broadcast data the switches lock up pretty quick.

By shutdown, do you mean the lights go off? That's a sign of defective hardware or power overload.
Or shutdown as in "all traffic stops"?

It is possible you overloaded it. Read the specs on the switch for max power output and then the specs on the camera to see what they use. As a general rule of thumb you should never exceed 80% of rated spec, especially if you have a LONG cable run.

I'm off for the next couple hours.

What are the models of the Hikvision? Each one will draw 7+watts
I know that shouldn't be the problem, but what if you disconnect the cctv and just plug in the computers, does it still go down?

But as someone stated - TP LINK - not the best, I would go over to Ubiquiti ASAP - better stuff all round and relatively cheap as well as a great cctv system if you decide you want to upgrade.

NOTE - Just noticed, since its 53W total and 8 ports, that is less than 6 watts per port - and the hikvision I saw was 7.5W max..
