TP-Link TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB Adapter, TL-WN821N, Archer T4UH, T4U or T9UH?

Hello, which of these is better and offer better performance and reliable connectivity for fast internet at home? It seems that they have different hardware version. How do I know which is being sold in online stores such as Amazon and Newegg? If you have other good suggestions, please advise.

I plan to use it under Ubuntu Linux, Mac OS and Windows 7/10.

If your router has AC capabilities, then the archer T4UH is what you should pick up. Otherwise I'd suggest picking up the TL-WN821N. I've got a couple of them around my house and my work space. They are okay for their price. Also we're assuming that your wireless router supports 802.11n and can go upto AC specs.

Good luck trying to keep up with manufactures and their constant changing product lines. Changing the hardware significantly but keeping the product name and appearance the same is one of those nasty surprises you find. Partially it is because it has no impact on your average consumer who is going to run it on his window 10 machine.

You are just going to have to dig around the specs. I guess the good news is most these manufacture do not actually make the chips that do all the work. This means you can generally determine what drivers you can get based on the chipsets rather than whose name is on the outside. Sites like wikidevi have lots of good hardware information on devices.

They are a pain to read but there is a massive amount of information in the FCC test reports they are required to file. The key one tends to be transmit power. In the case of the device you link tplink is one of the few that post the output power. 20db is actually quite low compare to a router that puts out close to the legal maximum of 30db.

How do I know if my router has AC capabilities and it supports 802.11n? Tried to call ISP but the answering machine kept me waiting forever.

My iPad PRO 12.9 works fine.
