Basically, I have bought this TP-WPA4220KIT as my room was a place where the wifi could reach.

It has been almost a year now and it did not give me any problems.

However, recently it has been giving me absolutely zero download speed or just 1mbps. I have even trouble watching videos as it keeps stuttering, dont even mention 720p nor 1080p. My friend told me that he went through a total of 4 TP Link Range extender as all of them had a blown capacitor. I thought it might be the same in my case.

This is an extract from the warranty card:

"Warranty Does not Cover:

a) Parts requiring replacement due to normal use, fair wear and tear, natural disatears, rust stains and corrosions.

c) Parts that are burnt due to any circumstances, whether under normal usage or not."

This would mean that even if the case of my capacitor being blown due to normal usage, they would not replace it as its not covered under the warranty.

Right now, I'm asking if anybody has experienced this problem and did something in the Range extender settings which solved the problem. I'm trying to avoid buying a new range extender as it is really pricy.

Extra info:
-The range extender seems to be quite warm/hot when you touch it.
-When you pull the range extender out from the plug and place it back in, it works for a couple of seconds before going back to poor performance.
-The PC nearest to my modem is recieving about 50mbps via wifi ( result provided by speedtest.net )
-I have done a full system scan using Norton to ensure that this isnt a case of a virus that's using up my lagging me.
Sorry about my english, grammer etc. Haha

Thanks.
Terence

1)I am currently using WPA2-PSK encryption for my connection.
2) Nope, no new device added.
3) [strike]I'm not really sure, is there a place where I can view all of the device currently connected? :)[/strike] I have 4 device connected to my range extender.

I suppose it is either a hardware problem, or if you haven't done this already, try rebooting your modem and router and wait a minute or so. It's possible there could be some interference . I know when I use my microwave, it causes my devices to lose connection until the microwave stops. Microwaves use the same frequency as a router (2.4GHz). It is possible someone near by is using some high-powered radios, causing interference.

The $21.99 seems like a good deal

That's exactly what I'm using right now.
I'll try shutting down my modem, router and the two tp-link device for about 3minutes later on at night when my family members are'nt using the internet I guess.

Regarding the microwave, I doubt it's the case as we do not use the microwave. However, even if my neighbours do use them, I doubt the interference continues after the microwave stop.

I'll get back to you after I have rebooted everthing at night. :)
