Hello community,

I'm presenting a really disturbing issue with my WR841N. Since yesterday, I have noticed that I cannot download almost anything from the web, including videos, documents, etc; but I can surf the web without problems.

Today I wanted to fix the router by upgrading the firmware to the latest version and hopefully it upgraded, however, I don't have internet access anymore (not even by connecting one of the LAN slots of the router to my PC). I have connection with my modem (via LAN cable), but as soon as I plug the modem to the WAN port of the router, and then from router to PC it cannot find the IP address. The same occurs in Wireless mode.

What can I do?

The current status of the TP-LINK is the following:

Nothing worked, not even that 🙁
When I look at the modem lights, the lan doesn't blink when connected to the router. When I plug the modem directly to the computer then it blinks a lot.

The upgrade was successful!

I disabled the DHCP in the router and enabled it on my modem to see what could happen but it stays the same. What else can I try? The modem doesn't provide a WAN address to the router 🙁

I tried changing the IPs of both, nothing...

Is your modem a modem/router combo?

If so, you should be connecting the other router via one of it's ethernet ports, not it's WAN port, unless there's a setting make the WAN port into just another LAN port.

VICTORY!!!! YES!!!

I just factory reset both router and modem, it took me +5 hours to fix this problem.

Thanks a lot for your help!
