Hi hive mind,

I’d like help getting to the bottom of a networking issues I have.

My download speed is about 30Mb/s.

The setup is: PC – tplink (via ethernet or wireless) – router – internet.

If I download via a wireless or wired connection via a tp-link (Av600) via Epic games launcher or Steam app (there are possibly others, but these are the ones I have confirmed), the download speed drops to <2Mb/s. That’s bad enough, but more worrying is that all other computers (mobiles, pc, laptops in the building (connected by both wired/wireless to different av600 tp-links throughout the house) also drop to <2Mb/s download speed. As soon as I pause the downloads, all computers revert to the 30Mb/s. Weirdly, if I download direct from a site (e.g. adobe acrobat from adobe site), then all is ok, so its something to do with epic and steam-like desktop portals.

Why would that be? My suspicion is it is something to do with the TP-link (av600), but why would one computer, downloading via a tp-link, via certain portals (like epic game launcher), throttle the entire network?

A penny for your thoughts.
