Hi All,

Has anyone got an answer if you can install a 3rd party TPM chip into a Dell Optiplex 390? Or is this possible?

1. Why a 3rd party device?
2. What CPU is in this? Assuming this request is for Win 11 compatibility...the list of relevant CPUs is pretty short and recent.
3. Wait for the actual release of Win 11. Requirements may change between now and then.

Contact Dell, they're (just like HP and such) notorious for changing things just enough that you are required to get your accessories from them alone. Just don't expect miracles as that model line is discontinued.

You won't be able to get one for that system.
By the way, on most Dell proprietary motherboards the TPM chip is soldered.

If you are looking into that because Windows 11 requirements then I do no think that system might meet any of the main requirements. ..UEFI, Secure Boot, TPM 2.0

At work we have an extensive list of Dell models and most of them do not conform with Windows 11 requirements.

Either Microsoft changes the requirements or a lot of people will stick with Windows 10 as it happened with Windows 7.

Thanks for all your replies guys, I have managed to boot from UEFI and gpt partition. It runs with windows 10 no probs so as you all said let's wait and see.
