TPM connector /noob/

Hello

Is this thing good for any home user which does some work @ home ? I used to have GA-870A-UD3 Mobo and as I read the manual looks like that mobo didnt had such thing , now I have new mobo and its possible to get some TPM connector , now I wonder if that old mobo had it somehow by default like... already integrated or it didnt have such thing at all... Is it a good thing to get? How does incrase in security? Thanks

TPM is for using various encryption programs like microsoft's bitlocker for one. I use true crypt which does not require a chip on the MB which probably makes it more secure.

Thank you sir , one last question why I dont see anything like that on AMD ? Is it integrated for AMD ? Or is that just some special additional feature for some mobos? Thanks again mate

I believe but not positive that it is an intel thing. I know that TPM is not on all intel based boards.

Been so long (a few years) that I have started a thread here that I do not remember where the icon is. I'm sure it's there somewhere for you.
