In the dead of night, a faint whisper from Elaine Mitchell was heard,
at about 06/05/2005 07:02 PM, and I could have sworn it said ...

Video driver, probably. Do you have the DX9 compatible driver for your
card? The newest certified driver?

And there's another *excellent* solution to AoD bugs.

First of all, you'll need to exit from the game. Then, go to the kitchen and
open up your microwave. Ok, that's the preperation done.
Now push the 'eject' button on your CD/ DVD drive. Creafully pick the disc
up, and place it shiny silver side down on your microwave's turntable.
Close the door, and set the microwave on High for 20 seconds. Stand back and
enjoy the show!

This is, perhaps, the most excitement you will get out of the game.

I really hope that helps!

*disclaimer...don't actually do this if you want to keep the game*

No no, it doesn't hurt the microwave. I assure you...I've done it to many
many discs throughout my often times frustrated life in several different
microwaves. 20 seconds is usually a good amount of time - but generally it's
between 5 and 25 seconds. The disc *will* be stuffed tho, because the
microwaves cause the silver reflective lining that the laser uses to read
off the plastic to burn, crinkle and contract.
If you've never done it before and you're scawed, I suggest trying just 5 or
10 seconds...you might see some sparkle and the rings may start to crack the
covering, but not by much.
It makes some pretty damn patterns on the cd - that's the most interesting
part of the exercise.
I highly suggest you try it McG - it won't hurt your microwave unless you
put it in for somethign ridiculous like 7 minutes. Then it might. You'll
quickly become addicted tho!
The microwave doesn't melt the plastic or anything, so there are no fumes or
scary chemicals. It's just a harmless, fun, kitchen experiment.

The actual lightshow is much like when you accidentally put some gold-rimmed
crockery in the microwave, or an old-style hot chicken bag (you know, the
bags they put the chicken in when you buy it from a Charcoal Chicken place)
with a silver lining.

Seriously - find an old data cd or even just a spare unused one (it doesn't
matter), give it a try, and get back to me.
It's fun!
