ok, so everybody knew that but here's a new twist on it:
I am playing TR I on nokia n-gage and it made me realize again what a
great game it is - yes the graphics are a lot worse than in the sequels
but the animations are great, the levels are great and the game is fun
to play. wow.
what makes the game interesting is that I play it when I don't have
access to internet, which mean no walkthroughs. It makes me stuck in
some places (the freaking 5 switch puzzle that open 4 doors near Midas)
but it also makes for a better game experience.
this version of game has an in-game hint service, in some places
there's a hint spot, if you're there you can ask for help. I tried few
but all of them are for secrets/hard to reach items only, the hints are
not for game progressing puzzles. Which IMO is a good thing. However
that ruins the secrets to certain extend since you know that if there's
a hint spot there the secret is not far from there. Actually they are
more solutions than hints, you simply see the video of Lara getting the
secret.
the save system is IMO a big improvement - you can name your savegames
plus whenever you finish the level you can start the game from the
beginning of the next level. You can save anytime, just like in PC
version (which kinda makes sense because nokia is more a PC than console
(well, it makes sense in my world🙂).
controls are slightly clumsy, compared to PC keyboard, it is harder
to do actions that require more than one button (e.g. climb up with
handstand). That's not a big deal though. What I found more annoying is
the fact that she keeps on running after you press forward, you have to
press it again to stop her.
anyway, it's pretty much the same TR I you all know, I haven't
re-played it since I first plyed the game (97? 98?) so I don't remember
lot of the environments nor puzzle solutions... it's more fun to play
than the TRAOD (IMO).
just thought I'd let you know how's Lara's adventures in parallel
universes...
