TR3 and XP SP2

I'm trying to help someone who just updated her computer
with a fresh install of Windows XP with SP2. Previously
she had XP without SP2 on the same computer and was able
to play TR3. But now she can't even install it. She gets
this message when she tries to install.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "Close" to
terminate the application.

She's tried changing the installer file to Win 95 and Win 98
compatibility mode, but it didn't work.

Has anyone been able to install and play TR3 on Windows XP SP2?

I already had TRIII installed when I upgraded to SP2 but can still play OK.
I do NOT use any compatability modes when playing, or patches despite the
fact some people say they are needed.

Are you running any other programs when you try to run the installer? The
message seems to indicate that this file is already in use or needed by a
windows application and so cannot be used for a DOS one also at the same
time.

No other programs were running.
She found the answer to her problem here

The dosapps_sp2_patch.exe fixed the problem even though
TR3 is not a DOS game.
