Trace route results to a CS:GO server. High ping issue. Help please!
So for the last couple of weeks I have been getting high latency when playing CSGO and other games when other people use the internet, even if it is just 1 other user watching a youtube video.

Here are my trace route results from a community server that said I should have 29 ping in, and when I join it is spiking to 90+ms. At the time only one other user was on the internet on Facebook or watching 1 YouTube video. This ping spiking also occurs in official mm servers and tdm servers under similar circumstances.

some additional info: we get 30dl and 10ul mbps. i am connected via ethernet cable to the modem. It has only gotten bad over the past month or so. I usually get 30-40 ping which is perfect. ISP is Orcon. My brothers computer is also connected to the modem via ethernet cable. Im on Windows 10.

Any ideas are very much appreciated.

Weezy.

Solution
The first hop -- from your router to the ISP router is the problem. There could be too much traffic on your line or the ISP could have a problem. No way to know.
This trace although abnormal shows no actual issues

Lets say hop 2 has some major problem and it is delaying all traffic. If all traffic is being delayed then it can not go faster in hop 3 and most important the last hop in the trace.

This is one of those strange quirks with how tracert works.

As long as the last hop is getting good numbers you have no issues to the end location. Now it may be very short random issues which cleared itself in the time it was testing hop 2 and the later hops.

You either need to run this until you see issue in the last hops or do in manually. You would open a bunch of cmd windows and run continuous ping to a number of hops in the trace. When the problem occurs in your game you quick stop all the windows and see if there is a indication of a problem.

here are another two from the same server from when i was lagging.
