Tracking via OS key

I received a Win 8.1 activation key from my local IT Department (off the record of course) .. Are they able to track anything or see what happens on a PC i use this key on? .. Total IT noob here, sales guy myself

Not by the activation key, but if this is THEIR property, they can legally track you however they wish. As always, ANYTHING you put on the NET is gonna become public eventually.
