hey fellas

I have the chance to trade my Radeon 5750 for a used 4870x2 at no cost.

My system specs are: MSI H55-GD65, Intel Core i3 540, 4gb ddr3, Sapphire Radeon 5750 Vapor-X, Inwin 450W 30A on 12v.

What do you guys think?

Appreciate the comments...

Its a big upgrade, you would notice quite a difference. However, better budget a bigger PSU in that upgrade, the one you have now is too skimpy. While it might boot and run, you are really going to be taxing the little PSU to the max, and would be setting yourself up for a major burnout that could destroy your board and other hardware.

to me 5750 was not strong enough to handle dx11 and i believe some people who decide to get 5750 (or GTS450 for nvidia equivalent) doesn't really care about dx11.

the problem is many developer decide to skip dx10 altogether when they release their pc version of the game. so most of the time people with dx10/10.1 card was force to play the game in dx9. AFAIK the only dx11 game (that i know of) that have dx10 mode is BF3 and metro 2033

Interesting comments.

Thought maybe my psu could pull it out, considering my low power consumption. You guys are right, I'm probably overestimating my psu.

I'm gonna stick to my 5750. At my native 1440x900, it's not that bad. I reckon I should wait.

Appreciate the help!

I like playing on my native resolution. I run Elder Scrolls V, on maximum settings, 8/16, shadow details on medium, through a range of 27-80 fps, averaging 45 fps. I'm quite satisfied actually.

I'd like to upgrade it later on, but again, to something that packs a little something with low power requirements. Most would probably disagree, the 5750 isn't that bad at all. It replaced my good old Gecube 3870 gddr4 six months ago and has been doing great so far.
