Question Transfer rates

I am getting "low" transfer rates between an internal samsung 970 evo+ and an external WD My Passport Ultra. The external drive is connected to the rear USB 3.1 (usb-c) port. The cable is USB-C to USB-C. I am getting no more than 120mbps when transferring between the drives. I get the same speed using a four year old usb 3 HDD through the front panel ports.

BIOS - up to date
xCHI- enabled
Better performance - enabled
external HDD drivers - up to date

what speed does your external HDD have? because 120mbps sounds pretty normal

I guess 120 is where it should be. I guess I just do not understand why usb 3.0 and 3.1 are both hitting 120. Further investigation shows that even if it was hitting 3.1 it would only be 20-30mbps faster. That's negligible in the long run. Thanks for the quick reply
