Transfer speed capped at 10mbps

I am transferring data between two laptops using an ethernet cable CAT 5e but the problem is that i am not getting speed higher than 11 MB/s. From what i have heard, i should atleast get more than 50mb per second. Please help me out

If you are getting 11MB/s (megabytes) then that is correct for a 100Mb/s (megabit) network. Many laptops do have only a 100Mbit ethernet port.
