Allright, I just have a little question for you guys...
How long does it normally take to copy a 700mb file from one HD to another?
I have an IBM60Gxp(40Gb) and a Western digital, 8Mb cache(80Gb).
I assume that the level of defragmentation plays some part in the transfer speed,
but I am just curious about some 'general' times.
For me it takes around 4 minutes or so and this feels like 'to much time' for such
a 'small' file, correct?
I have the latest 4in1´s and I share each HD with a CDR/CDRW.

Wow, that gives you an awesome 2.9 MB/s transfer speed.
I don't have any numbers to give you, but try <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/storage/fc-test/" target="_new">file copy test</A>

Bedankt!
Yeah I know it´s mighty impressive but I would like to up it to at least 3.1 or better 3.2!!!
Crap!
Something obviously is wrong with my comp...
I´ll check that app out as soon as I get home.

I just tried copying a 710MB file on my RAID0 array. Note: I effectively copy the file to the same drive, although I in reality have two. The file was copied in 45 sec. This gives me an average read/write speed of 31.5 MB/s. Not bad, but it still sucks compared to the benchmark of about 80 MB/s.

I just tried FC-test with the enclosed ISO file pattern (a total of 1647 MiB of data) and got the following results:

Create: 36.9 sec (55.76 MiB/s)
Read: 30.2 sec (54.5 MiB/s)
Copy: 93.8 (average of 35.12 MiB/s)

Note: MiB is 1024^2 Bytes
