Hi guys,

My System:
Intel Core i7 920 D0
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P iX58
OCZ GameXStream 850W PSU
Inno3D GTX295
OCZ 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz

I've just transferred my PC to a new case, from the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream to a Fractal Design Black Pearl. I have installed fans wherever they could go for optimum cooling. My original problem was that after building the computer back into the new case I could not get it to post or bleep or anything. After much testing I managed to get it to boot again outside the case leading me to believe it was shorting on the case. I was using all 8 of the edge screws for the motherboard but the only screw I missed out from my Thermaltake case was the middle pin style screw. Upon placing this screw back in the case I can now boot.

Now my new issue(s). My PC takes a very long time to before it posts, all fans spin up for up to 10 seconds, compared to before when it was a matter of ~2 seconds. A secondary issue is that now my heatsink fan for my CPU is constantly at full RPM. It is set in variable but is constantly at 2000 regardless of temperature. The idle temperature is between 35-40 reached in BIOS or windows. Anyone got any ideas on whats causing this issue? Or any good suggestions for a replacement heat sink?

Cheers for any help.

double check all of your wiring you might have connected the fans in the wrong place make sure you are not connected to the PWR fan. Also try resetting your bios by taking out battery could help.

I have all my case fans connected to an external fan controller, I also never removed my heatsink fan power so it should in theory be connected all the same still. I will however double check this when I get home from work in case a connection has come loose or something.

The main thing that worries me is why it's taking so long to post when in the old case it didnt at all!
