Transfering data from a Mac 2.5 drive to my PC?

My girlfriend blew the logic board on her Macbook by spilling water on the thing not once, but twice.
I'm trying to transfer the data from the 2.5 drive over to my PC via USB SATA Adapter but my PC is not recognizing the drive.
Is there anything I can do, or does this data have to be transferred to another Mac?

PC doesn't recognize the filesystem of a Mac drive. Best bet would be to use a system that has a Linux distro on it (like Ubuntu, for instance) or another Mac.
