Transfering data to a different hard drive

I've been trying to clone a hard drive, an old non-SATA, to a new SATA drive. I am unable to connect both drives to the single computer and I have no blank external hard drives to be used as clone storage. How would I back up the old drive, including the operating system and settings, onto the new drive?

What computers are you using. What OS is on the older drive? What is your desired end result. Does you old computer with the non-sata (IDE) drive still work and does it have USB jacks. Are you trying to use an old OS and migrate it to a new system?

I'm rebuilding an XP computer and keep everything that was on the old drive, including the OS and settings. The old computer still works and has USB ports, however no SATA ports.

I'm currently running Image For Dos v2.51a via Hiren's Boot CD, transferring a backup to an external drive.
