hi.
my laptop had a Oem windows 10 when i bought it which i upgraded to 11 a while ago.

there is a problem with GPU which dont switch correctly unless i replug AC and i tried different ways like uninstal or upgrade but it didn't work.

one time i took out ssd and replace it with a raw one and installed new windows 11. and problem was gone.

now i want to upgrade ssd as well but i Don't know how to take the license from 1st ssd and use it on 2nd one .... i remember last Time i tried, windows was not active.

If all you are changing is the SSD then it will active normally. It's only if you change the CPU and/or motherboard that your existing OEM licence will not be recognised (but even then there are ways to get it activated).

The OEM license key is pre-installed on the computer by the manufacturer. Each OEM version has its key on the hard drive. It is tied to your motherboard. Use a new SSD and install the same Windows on it, Windows will be activated automatically

this is also what google said. but how come in my experience, windows didn't get active by itself? do i have to install windows 10 home edition then upgrade to 11 ? OR is it ok to install 11 home edition from start.
also do i need to connect to internet? if so, what should i do after? like opening a setting or running a command.... i Don't know

If 11 has been activated then install 11. You should be connected to the Internet when you install, but you don't have to be. Windows will activate automatically when you do eventually connect.

Oh, and the initial OEM key is burned into the BIOS not the hard drive.

Windows needs to connect to the internet to activate, because the activation servers have to verify that the key is being used properly.

Windows will generally activate itself or tell you there's a problem with activation within a day.
