Transfering XP Data To Windows 7 In A Dual Boot

Hi,
I have windows xp and windows 7 on my computer configured as a dual boot.I want to turn my computer into a full win 7 operation.How can i transfer my user data from my xp side to my windows 7 side? Ive found a nice tutorial on how to delete the xp os, i want to maintain my programs and data though.

If you 'delete' the XP OS, the boot sector will be corrupted. Hopefully the nice tutorial explains how to fix the boot sector. As far as transferring personal data from the XP installation to the Windows 7, that can be accompolished as simply as saving the data to external HD or disk and moving the saved data to the Win 7 installation.

I havent yet applied the tutorial to my system but is does speak about a fix for the boot.

I have another question.

When i save the data ,and i tranfer it to my win 7,how is this done.I have programs like adobe master suite ,how do i transfer so i dont have to reinstall?Copy and paste and if so what files...........

Can the files be transfered from one partition(xp) to the next(win7) instead of external source?

The software applications like Adobe, etc. will have to be reinstalled, so forget about transferring any of these type of apps. As far as your personal data/files, copying them to an external source (hard drive or burn to CD DVD) then dragging and dropping them to the Windows 7 installation is about a simple as it gets. Also, you might consider using a feature of Win 7 like this.

As badge said transferring data is easy, and the link provided to the W7 Easy Transfer Wizard makes it simple.
Start up in XP, insert the W7 disk. Browse to the DVD drive on your computer and click migsetup.exe in the Support\Migwiz directory to run the Wizard.
Restart in W7 and restore the files.

When performing a full migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 in a dual boot configuration you can simply drag your files over from the XP Partition to the Windows 7 partition. Your applications, however, will require reinstallation simply because they are tied to the Windows XP Registry.
