Pretty simple question. I'm helping my mother get a new Apple laptop which she is set on. She currently uses a PC laptop. She wants to be sure to be able to transfer files from PC to Apple. They are mostly Word files. What is the easiest way, program, cheap way to ensure there is no issue being able to bring it up on her new Apple?

Formatting a usb drive to Exfat is probably the best choice if you aren't going to cloud route. Keep in mind sometimes the Mac may try to "take ownership" of the drive restricting the PC's ability to write to it. You could also use fat 32, but it limits your max size an individual file can be to 4gb. Has she used a mac before and is just going back to one, or is she currently "done with windows" and about to start jumping through hoops to learn MacOS's arbitrary restrictions and random update changes?
