Sorry if this is dumb question but will it be possible to transfer files from a hard drive that has windows installed in it to my new pc? The hard drive is from my old pc and windows is kind of corrupt so I was wondering if I could simply put it in to my new pc and access the drive and then simply drag and drop all the important files to my current hard drive.

If for whatever reason this isn't possible what would be the easiest way to recover my data?

Solution
Sure. You can connect the old HDD to your new PC as a SECONDARY drive and hopefully access its files and copy/move whatever files you desire from the old HDD. We assume the "corruption" you speak of involves the old OS on that drive and presumably the files you will be transferring are sound. You might want to delete the old OS while you're at it.
