Hey everyone! I'm looking to clone Windows 10, my C drive of 136gb to my 240gb SSD. I just want to know what the best free software to do this is, or if someone can explain it here that would be great as well. I dont want ANY files missing from the cloning as I know some cloning software can miss out the details. ALSO I want to make the SSD my boot drive quite obviously, and I'm not sure how to do that after i clone the drive thanks!!!

I have an MSI 990 FXA Gaming motherboard if that helps

Solution
Since you are going from smaller drive to larger, easy
Do this:
-----------------------------------
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just as like the old drive.
Maybe reboot...

Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.

much appreciated! havent tried it yet, but will soon. But just a question. Im going from a 500gb HD to the 240gb SSD. im just only using 136gb on the 500gb drive. does the capacity of the drive affect this process? or will i still be ok because im only taking 136gb?

You're fine. The newer tools like Macrium only look at the actual used space.
Older tools looked at the actual partition sizes.

Amazing dude! Thanks so much! The only thing I had to do after cloning was get rid of the old windows 10 on the hdd.

Went to disk management
Find the drive i wanted to delete the old Windows 10 from
Deleted the Primary partition
Then I followed the steps from

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/4f1b84ac-b193-40e3-943a-f45d52e23685/cant-delete-extra-healthy-recovery-partitions-and-healthy-efi-system-partition?forum=w8itproinstall

In order to get rid of the EFI and the Recovery partition.
