Transferring windows 10

So, I am building a new pc with a new ssd. If I were to erase everything off my current hard drive besides my OS(Windows 10) and save an image of it onto an external drive and then format it, could I then restore the new SSD using that image and be able to keep on using my same OEM Windows 10? I'm sorry if this is a new question, it's just im already overbudget for my build and a new OS key would kill me

Just tie your Microsoft account to Windows 10 and just do a clean reinstallation.

What you propose can get very messy and probably won't even work.

If you have a OEM license, then i guess you gonna have some issues. I dont think that you can transfer your OS because it is tied to your old PC (motherboard), but you should ask Microsoft because Windows 10 licensing has change a bit from previous Windows

Oh man that's good stuff!! so i guess I would have to uninstall it from my old pc? Or will Microsoft do that themselves?
