Transfrring files from harddrive to harddive

i have just began to transfer files from one external harddrive to another.all the files transfered seem to be compete but they were missing the thumbnail (video file picture) in 50% of the files.now i find that the source harddrve is missing a bunch of thumbnails aswell (20%).also a video file i transfered within the source drive was missing the thumbnail.do i have a virus,why is this happening now, i have never had this problem.

I think: The thumbnails are separate files that are generated when you browse through the various directories using the Thumbnails view. In the new locations, these have not yet been generated.

Does that make sense in your context?

thank-you but no. my source hard drive is missing random video thumnails it has nothing to do with codecs.the hard drive is full with video clips there is 2.75 gigs of space left.the problem seemed to arise when i draged 75 gig multiple file over to the new drive (75 gig-100 files - 1file heading)i'm starting to thing the drive is corrupted.
